Who won the transfer portal?
The transfer portal is a great opportunity for a natural experiment. Almost everyone gets a one-time transfer exception and NIL money is in play. I wanted to see where the best players ended up. Which conferences saw the biggest influx of talent? Which teams added the most production? So I scraped the data and this is the result.
Notes about this analysis – I used transfer data from verbalcommits.com. I think they put out accurate information but there is a non-zero chance that there is an error somewhere in this dataset. Also, players are rated using a Player Efficiency Rating (PER). This is a measure of past production rather that future projections.
